5 Tips to Boost Your Self-Esteem

We all have days when we simply do not feel good in our own skin (and the addition of perfectly curated Instagram feeds definitely doesn’t help). Learning how to have confidence and love our bodies can be hard, so here are 5 tips that I have found helpful over the years for boosting self-esteem.

1. Small changes can have big payoffs

Stop comparing yourself to your friend, your sister, the influencer you follow on social media, any celebrity, and even yourself from a year or 5 years ago. No good can come from comparing every inch of your body and just wishing it was different. We spend so much time procrastinating, wishing we looked a certain way and feeling bad about ourselves, that we seldom ever take the first step towards change. Instead of comparing yourself to others, focus on improving the quality of your life today. Are you having issues with sleeping? Try reading instead of watching TV before bed. Are you struggling with getting to the gym and finding motivation? Try a new workout or class that might light a fire in you. Do you find yourself ordering Uber Eats more times than you can count? Pull out that recipe you’ve been wanting to try and give it a go! Small, simple changes; yet super effective.

2. Be honest with yourself

Are you aware of the lifestyle routines which hinder your progress? If not, try to turn your attention to your day-to-day habits and jot down what you think should change and why. Sometimes, all we really need is a bit of perspective to start seeing things in a different light. Maybe you’ll realize you’re consuming too much sugar throughout the day or that you’re eating routine is sporadic and causing overeating. Being honest with yourself about how and what you need to change is the first step to getting on the right track.

3. Invest in yourself

You are your best at life and at work by making decisions to keep you healthy, thriving, full of energy, and looking the way you envision. By making these positive decisions you will most certainly reach your goals. This includes investing money, but also time and effort into researching what’s best for you in your life situation. Find a gym you’re motivated to sweat in, buy clothes that make you feel powerful and beautiful (to yourself!), start preparing foods that make you excited for your meals, find hobbies that feed your soul, and consider safe and effective non-surgical treatments like truSculpt iD and muscle building technology like truSculpt flex which can give your body that final push it needs. Sometimes, you can do all the best workouts and eat the cleanest foods, but still find it hard to sculpt the body you’ve always wanted. We should be so lucky to live in a time when such amazing and affordable treatments exist and help us reach our goals without extreme dieting, over exercising, and restriction.

4. Prioritize self-care

All of the aforementioned tips mean little if we’re constantly under stress and never find time to literally kick our legs up and relax. Carve out some time on a weekly basis to do the things that bring peace into your body and mind. Whether it’s journaling, meditating, rom-com binging, or spa pampering, doing something for yourself and putting yourself first makes you value yourself more and in the end, boost your confidence. Find what works for you and stay consistent, even if it literally means blocking out a time slot in your busy calendar.

5. Laugh, laugh, and then laugh some more!

Laughter really is the best medicine, so make sure to surround yourself with people who lift you up and make you feel good. Say goodbye to all the negativity and so-called friends who only make you feel less about yourself. Working towards not letting it affect you is a long-term process, so by eliminating them from your life, you’re already on the right track. We all want to be reminded we’re loved, wanted, valued, and respected. Spend more time with those who make you feel all of the above.

Working on our self-esteem is a never-ending process as we’re always going through phases, usually depending on what others think of us. Remember these steps whenever you start doubting yourself and shift your narrative to focusing on what you love, because there’s only one YOU, and you are amazing.
